What DocuSign is

DocuSign handles contracts, change orders, and authorisations with a legally robust audit trail showing who signed what and when. Many contractor platforms include basic e-signature; a dedicated service matters when contracts are large and the evidentiary record needs to be unimpeachable.

Best for

Contractors with large contracts where signature evidence must be solid

Watch out

Envelope limits on lower plans catch high-volume users, and if your job management platform already has e-signature, check whether this is genuinely needed.

What it does well

  • Strong legal audit trail
  • Templates for repeat documents
  • Reminders and sequential signing
  • Universally recognised by customers

Integrates with

Procore ยท Salesforce ยท QuickBooks ยท Zapier

Integration lists change often and "integrates" can mean anything from a real two-way sync to a one-way push through Zapier. Ask the vendor which fields move, in which direction, and how often.

Before you commit

  • Photos must be organised by job automatically. Any workflow that relies on filing later will not survive.
  • Check unlimited storage claims and what happens to old projects if you downgrade.
  • Time stamps and GPS metadata are what make documentation defensible in a dispute.
  • Sharing should be a link a homeowner can open without an account.
  • If it integrates with your job management tool, photos stop being a separate habit โ€” strongly prefer that.

How to judge it in a trial

Run one real job through it end to end โ€” not the demo data. Quote it, schedule it, do it, invoice it, take the payment. Then ask the only question that matters on day 400: did the people who have to use this every day find it faster than what they do now? Friction you notice in week one compounds forever, and tool-hopping costs more than any feature gap.
